The Red Financiera Rural in Ecuador has been implementing a microinsurance project since 2009. This effort started with various studies on microinsurance in Ecuador, focussing on product design and the payment/claims processes at different insurance companies. The training of the commercial agents delivering microinsurance products is an area of particular emphasis. Currently, the implementation has started with three partner organizations; by the end of 2010, the project will have seven partner institutions and 35,000 insured.
