On the development of a health insurance product

Emerging Project Lessons

While developing a health product it is important to take into account the public health entity, considering that the supply of health varies by geography. The development of a health insurance product must be based on existing access to population health services as well the additional needs of the customers in such a way to create products that add value to current health practices. AMUCSS and RedSol have been working on a study that tries to find what is the reality in health services in rural areas in Mexico and how it is expected that these services are developed in the next few years. This study has shown the wide range that exists in health services and the possible duplication of offer if you wanted to design a traditional health insurance as the one for upper social classes. Research has been conducted with the collaboration of the insurance company, so that its staff can incorporate the lessons into the design of the health product.  The study results indicate a need for products that address the cost of transfer to health centres, or the loss of income during the treatments that have to follow it.
